The emblematic Baumann "Sledge" chair

The Manufacture Baumann was a furniture manufacturing company created in 1901 by Émile Baumann. It was one of the most prominent companies on the chair market in the 20th century and reached its peak in the 1970s.

From the end of the 1960s and during the 1970s, Baumann innovated with a few models of designer chairs with organic shapes. Some chairs stand out such as the "Traineau", "Menuet", etc.

The chair is called "Luge or Traineau" because of the original shape of its frame. These icons of French design are inspired by the Scandinavian style thanks to their elegant, sober and pure lines.

Like the Thonet, Khon and Mundus manufactures, the Baumann brand is synonymous with quality and the privileged witness of an era rich in inventiveness.

Since the 2000s, Baumann chairs have been much sought-after by collectors.
